The EEC Teenagers conversation course is a communicative course for young teenagers that teach them how to use language in real situations; it is also a structural course that gives a clear and careful introduction to English grammar. With this dual approach, we aim to develop vital language skills that will enable students to communicate both fluently and accurately.
Middle levels have been specially designed for the upper-secondary school language learning context. The basic premise of the course is that secondary students learn English best when they are dealing with interesting and meaningful content. Topics related to the student's own world. For example, free time, sports, parties, shopping, holidays, music, and fashion.
We understand at EEC that not only does the book have to create interesting and varied lessons, but also the teachers have to be motivating, helpful, and humorous. We understand the needs of our students academically and culturally and we draw from our experience of over 35 years teaching in Indonesia to make the experience of learning English fun. We feel we have achieved these goals, which is why our conversation courses are productive and popular with students in Jakarta.
Language structures
The EEC Teenagers course is divided into 4 parts. The overall aim of Part 1 is to introduce the main language of the unit and give students an immediate grasp of the language functions; students then practice the language functions in the communication section. Part 2 aims to build on students’ grammatical knowledge with explanations and thorough practice of the new structures introduced in the unit. The study skills section shows students how to develop language learning techniques. Part 3 contains the vocabulary section, in which vocabulary is organized and practiced in a range of activities. Part 4 provides concentrated practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In addition to these aims, students give an oral presentation each term in order to build and instill the confidence to speak in front of a group of their peers.
Certificate
Upon completion of the course, students will receive their International level certificate.
Material
The EEC teenagers course uses modern international books with a teenage theme plus supplementary material created by EEC’s own teachers collected from extensive teaching experience in Indonesia.
Teachers
All teachers have a Bachelors's degree and a TEFL certificate plus extensive experience in teaching English to teenagers.
