The
TOEFL® test is a test to measure the English proficiency of non-native
speakers of English. It is primarily required by colleges and universities in the USA and other English-speaking nations. In addition,
institutions such as government agencies, businesses, or scholarship programs may require this test.
The TOEFL® test compromises the following:
Six long passages followed by questions about the passages. There are 2 passages consisting of student conversations and 4 academic lectures or discussions.
Task: 34 questions in 50 minutes
Three long reading passages on academic topics of the sort that might be found in an undergraduate university notebook.
Task: 39 questions in 60 minutes
Two writing tasks, one
integrated task and one independent task. In the integrated task,
students must read an academic passage, listen to an academic passage on
the same subject and then write about how the ideas in the two passages
are related.
In the independent task, students must write an essay on a general issue.
Task: 2 essays in 55 minutes
This consists of six tasks, 2
